The Poison Pill

Beyond popular belief, Democrats are not the enemy of Republicans nor are Republicans a great threat to Democrats. America has swallowed the poison pill of division. Common sense tells us that dividing our opposition should give you an advantage.  At the same time if these divided factions clash and struggle to exhaustion, conquest should be much easier. Or at the very least the divided factions would be so busy fighting each other that the pill prescriber could simply walk across the battlefield to ultimate victory.

So, what are fighting for? How about the American Dream? How about a home, food for your family, a real vacation, health care, a decent wage, the ability to do better than our parents did?

If the opposing party isn’t the enemy, who is? On any issue ask yourself, “who has the most to gain?” Big oil, big pharma, big banks, big business tax evaders, big investors. Not the working-class Joe, teachers, small business owners, family farmers, basically 99% of us.

The Boogeyman, depending on where you stand, are immigrants, anyone that is not white, anyone that is white, evangelicals, atheists, any non-Christians, science, environmentalists, capitalism, socialism, communism, wind turbines, fascism, BLM, LGBTQ, NRA, Antifa, Qanon, police, the government, aliens, zombies and bigfoot.

They divide us, The Christian Right, Progressives, Radical, Conservative, Tea Party, Moderate, Democratic Socialists, Liberal. We swallow this with glee, no wonder we are so easily controlled.

Consider this, in a four-way political race you would only need 26% of the vote to win. Yet head-to-head 26% would put you on the losing end of a landslide. This is how dividing your opposition work. This is what the 1% does by buying politicians and pushing their agenda all because of their insatiable greed.

Three ways to mend our nation:

1.     Understanding.

Understanding that your neighbor is more like you than not. They might look different, pray different or vote differently than you, but all they want is a way to provide for their family without fear or oppression. Some may be more motivated than others, some neater, some quieter. Just remember it’s not for us to judge, and like an iceberg, what we see on the outside is only a small portion of the entirety.

2.     Intelligence:

Covid has been one of the world’s worst epidemics, but there seems to be another affliction in today’s society. A complete lack of common sense and intellectual reasoning. God, or nature has given humans the largest functioning brain on earth, and we use it to spread disinformation, deny science, and just plain make things up. Technology has made good information accessible 24/7. We just never have learned how to discern good information from bad. Guess what the poison pill prescribers don’t want us to learn. A real patriot is an informed American. One that weighs the facts and science against the conspiracies and doesn’t spread disinformation. Don’t believe everything you hear, there is no honest, fair, and balanced media organization. They all have an agenda, and its result is profits.

3.     Involvement.

Get involved. Whether it be researching facts and muting disinformation, joining an activist group or running for office. Sitting back, flying a flag and expecting rich politicians to keep America great is not what our founding fathers fought for. The easiest thing to do though is to be an informed voter. Get the facts. Find the truth. Dispel the conspiracies and then vote.

So, put your finger down your throat and spit that poison pill to the curb. It’s time we take back the American Dream. It’s time we come together as one and build a better country. If not for us, for the next generation, before it’s too late. No rich politician or political party is going to do it for us. It’s going to take work, compassion and understanding for others. We need to control our emotions, constantly alter our perspective, reconsider our impetuous thoughts. Coming together as one is the only way we can put the United back in the USA.
